The experience

Best for
A short, easy, undemanding night out
Not for you if
You want the evening to add something to what you understand about the North. This one is entertainment, and says so

Siam Dragon is a high-energy cabaret built around costume, choreography and stage performance. It runs seventy minutes, it asks nothing of you but a seat, and it is the shortest evening on this page by a wide margin. Transfers are offered as an option rather than included, and the price varies with the ticket you choose.

We list it as a night out, not as cultural context. Nobody should book this expecting to understand the North better afterwards, and it does not pretend otherwise: it is a show, staged and lit as one, and it is good at being that. If you want the evening to teach you something, the khantoke dinner is the one with a Lanna dance programme in it, and the temples do the rest for free in daylight.

Where it earns its place is on the nights when nothing else fits. It is short enough to follow a proper dinner, it costs about what a couple of cocktails costs, and it is the one option here that works equally well whether you are two, six, or travelling with people who want different things from the evening.

It is a show, staged and lit as one, and it is good at being that.

How the evening works

  1. Getting there

A transfer is offered as a paid option rather than included. Without it you make your own way, which across Chiang Mai is a short ride.

  2. Seventy minutes on stage

The show itself: costume, choreography and stage lighting, run as a single continuous programme.

Why this one

01

Seventy minutes, and then your evening is yours

Short enough to follow dinner rather than replace it. The only option here that fits inside an evening instead of filling it.

02

Costume and choreography, done properly

The staging is the product. Judged as an hour of entertainment it delivers; judged as anything else it was never trying.

03

Transfers if you want them

Pickup is available as a paid option. Skipping it is what keeps the ticket at the entry price.

04

From €18, depending on the ticket

The starting price is the cheapest ticket type on the date you pick. Other tiers cost more and are shown when you choose your date.

Common questions

How long is the show?

Seventy minutes. That is the whole commitment, which is why it works after dinner rather than instead of it, and why it is the easiest of the four evenings we list.

Is this a cultural show?

No, and we would not sell it as one. Siam Dragon is a cabaret built around costume, choreography and stage performance. If you want a Lanna dance programme, the khantoke dinner has one; for the culture itself, go to the temples, open in daylight all over the city.

Why does the price vary?

There is more than one ticket type, and the €18 figure is the cheapest available on the date you pick. Which tiers exist on your date, and what each one changes, is shown on the booking page before you pay.

Do I need the transfer?

No. It is a paid option rather than part of the ticket, and skipping it is what keeps the price at the entry level. Chiang Mai is small and a ride across it is cheap.

How far ahead do I need to book?

At least five hours, which is the longest notice of the four evenings here. In practice that means deciding at lunch for the same night rather than at seven for eight.
